This couple is very special to me- my baby sister and the great man God has brought into her and our lives! Sylken and Jeremiah will be getting married this June and we could NOT be happier for them! To celebrate we went out to Lynde Shores Conservation Area on New Years Day to do an impromtu engagement shoot. Congratulations to the two of them and can’t wait for their big day!
Thanks so much for popping by!

Sometimes I drive by a location I see and just KNOW I have to use it. It’s not always an obvious place like a park, beach or a botanical garden. There is a beautiful spot near my house behind the bus stop with great depth and beautiful greenery with a perfect angle at sunset. A few times it’s been just off a walking trail- a bit of a hike to get there but the golden hour light and tall grass made a stunning natural backdrop. This time I saw a beautiful field of purple and white flowers while driving around waiting to pick up my husband from an errand- we were just cruising a residential area and I saw the field and a public walking trail by the lake. I immediately started considering upcoming sessions or even a shoot with my own family and what outfits I would choose to complement the colours. As luck would have it, C was looking for a last minute mini session. It was perfect timing and a perfect match- the outfits they had already chosen were a beautiful fit for the flowers and grass and blue skies. And this family is just stunning, are they not? They exude beauty and joy. I’m so thrilled to have had the chance to photograph them in such a great location! Thanks S family!

Keeping busy with lots of fall mini-seesions! Just a quick inspiration board for an upcoming casual cozy fall family shoot. With the cooler weather, and beautiful fall colours on display, sweaters in a variety of complimentary hues make for a great palette.

The B family has an upcoming shoot this weekend and asked for suggestions on outfits for their family- mom, dad, 7 year old daughter and twin 4 year old girls! Mom sent me a couple of options. And I have to say, as a mom of four, I’m a HUGE proponent of shopping your closets first and working with some items you already have and love! Affordable and something you know your kids are comfortable in. Then fill in gaps as needed. One option was a denim summer dress for older sister and white summer dresses for younger girls. This would no doubt look lovely, and if she tended to decorate with a palette of neutrals the colour scheme would lend itself well to a large canvas of a family portrait in their living room. BUT the other option was what I like to call pretty in pink. The plan is to shoot at a local park which will have lots of greenery so the shades of pink for the girls will really help them pop and stand out against the natural backdrop and make for really stunning images.
I put together a What to Wear inspiration board for the family to give them some ideas for how they could style their wardrobe for our session. Mom and Dad in more neutral sand and blue tones with the floral scarf to incorporate the pinks really put the focus on the girls while keeping the family a cohesive unit. The gold shoes and accessories give the pop of sparkle and shine that will add some zing and personality. So excited for this shoot!
Thanks for stopping by! And be sure to come back and check out their images in a couple weeks!
